That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Rotobrush Vent Sanitizing: The Torrance Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible vent sanitizing for most residential systems in Torrance, with an installed price that typically lands between $240 and $390 depending on your home’s vent count and access. Most swaps take under two hours from start to finish, and our trucks carry the parts you’ll actually need on the day we show up. Where most owners realize something’s wrong is when the sanitizing cycle starts sounding off: a higher-pitched whine, uneven fog output, or a machine that runs but barely moves air through the vents.

We’re an independent Torrance service provider, not a Rotobrush authorized dealer. That matters in one direction only: we stock both OEM and quality aftermarket components, so we can give you a real choice on price and lead time instead of telling you there’s only one way to fix your machine.

Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To

The most common Rotobrush systems we see in Torrance homes are the aiR+ and the original brush-and-fog combination units from the early 2010s. Sanitizing attachments differ between generations: the aiR+ line uses a cartridge-based fogger nozzle that threads into the main wand, while older models run a separate atomizer line that connects at the hose coupling. If you’re not sure what you have, the model plate sits above the power cord inlet – look for a serial starting with “RB” followed by four digits.

The gotcha with Rotobrush specifically is the nozzle orifice size. Older units shipped with a 0.5mm tip, and the aiR+ moved to 0.8mm. They’re physically interchangeable at the thread, but a 0.8mm tip on an older pump over-dispenses sanitizer and you’ll see pooling at the register. A 0.5mm tip on a newer system starves the airflow and you get weak fog. We check the tip spec before we install anything, because guessing here means a second trip.

On OEM versus aftermarket: Rotobrush-branded nozzles and seals are well made, but they’re priced above what the same-quality aftermarket parts cost, and lead times can stretch past two weeks during busy season. We stock both on the truck for most common models, so you get the decision at the quote stage, not after we’ve opened the machine up.

Signs Your Rotobrush Vent Sanitizing Is Failing

  • The fog is weak or patchy. This is almost always a clogged orifice tip or a failing pump diaphragm. If sanitizer drips at the connection instead of misting, the seal is done and the fix is a replacement O-ring plus a new tip.
  • The machine runs but no sanitizer flows. On Rotobrush units, the pickup tube inside the reservoir gets brittle with age and develops hairline cracks that pull air instead of liquid. In Torrance, the dry air and heat cycles in uninsulated garages accelerate that cracking faster than homes in more humid climates.
  • You smell burnt plastic or an electrical whine during the fog cycle. That’s the motor bearing telling you it’s finished. Running it longer to get one more job out of it usually destroys the impeller too, which triples the repair. Call us when you first hear it.
  • The reservoir has a white, chalky film that won’t rinse out. Sanitizer formulations react with mineral deposits from South Bay water, and once that film builds past a certain point it clogs every downstream component. We see this constantly on Torrance units that use tap water for dilution.
  • The hose coupling doesn’t stay locked. The spring-loaded collar on Rotobrush wands wears out after several thousand connect/disconnect cycles. It’s a $30 part, but if it pops loose mid-job you’re spraying sanitizer into the joist cavity instead of the duct run.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical Torrance home with 8 to 14 vents, expect to pay between $240 and $390 for a full vent sanitizing service with parts replacement included. The range is driven by three things: which Rotobrush model you have (aiR+ parts run a bit more than the older line), how many vents need fogging, and whether the failure is a single component or a cascade of worn parts that all make sense to replace at once.

  • Orifice tip replacement: $35-$60 installed
  • Reservoir and pickup tube assembly: $80-$140 installed
  • Pump rebuild (diaphragm + seals): $120-$190 installed
  • Full sanitizing service (parts + labor, 8-14 vents): $240-$390

You get a written price before we touch anything, and that price does not change at the door. Every repair carries a written guarantee, and if the part fails within 365 days we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it applies to every vent sanitizing job without exception.

DIY or Call Us?

The parts you can safely inspect yourself are the reservoir, the pickup tube, and the nozzle tip. If you see cracks, chalky buildup, or a mislabeled orifice size, you’ve found the problem and can order the part. The line we draw is at pump rebuilds and motor bearings: a Rotobrush pump runs under pressure during the fog cycle, and a poorly seated diaphragm sprays sanitizer aerosol into your face at close range. That’s an eye and lung irritant you don’t want to meet unexpectedly.

If your machine is showing any of the warning signs above, call us at (424) 488-0361 and we’ll diagnose it over the phone. We’re honest about what’s worth fixing and what’s worth replacing, and we’ll tell you the number before we book the appointment.
